Glorious Vision University has commissioned its international IT-E business resource training and certification centre.

The Centre which is a partnership between the University and New Horizons International ICT training outfit was commissioned on Thursday, March 27th, 2014 at the University auditorium.
In his welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Benard Eronmonsele Aigbokhan stated that GVU signed a Memorandum of Understanding with New Horizons International to offer ICT trainings to her students, part of the University’s commitment to ensuring that her students graduate with three(3) certificates. The training is to prepare students for examination of external ICT bodies such as ORACLE,CISCO,MICRO-SOFT.

Professor Aigbokhan stated that in view of employers’ emphasis on ICT competence, it was necessary for students who are prospective employees to get beyond roadside computer training. He underscored the relevance of ICT competency in every field and sphere of life in the contemporary society.

In his speech, the Managing Director of New Horizons, Mr Tim Akano bemoaned the worrisome dimension of unemployment in Nigeria, stating that ICT training and knowledge has become a sine qua non to making students self-reliant and employer of labour upon graduation. He decried the unhealthy situation where Nigerian graduates wait endlessly for non-existing white-collar jobs.

While fielding questions from the audience, Mr Akano, said the students training will be industry-specific to make them relevant in their chosen career after graduation.
The MD then conducted the principal officers of the University, the representative of the Onogie (king) of Ogwa, and other guests round the training facility, explaining every bit of the state of the art computers.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Principal officers of the University, staff of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, the representatives of Ogwa community, staff and students of Glorious Vision University.

The highlight of the occasion was the commissioning of the New horizons International ICT -E Business certification resource centre by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Benard Eronmonsele Aigbokhan assisted by Mr. Tim Akano.

By this commissioning, the centre is now set to commence training of our students in preparation for the examination of international computer certification agencies like CISCO,COMPTIA,EC COUNCIL and ORACLE.
