In pursuance of her Corporate Social Responsibility to the Host community, Glorious Vision University Ogwa, has given 20 indigent students three hundred thousand naira for the enrolment of the 2022 West African School Certificate Examinations.

In his opening remarks at the presentation ceremony which took place at the Council Chambers of the palace of His Royal Highness, Zaiki Victor Agbonmere Ehizogie 11 (JP), the Onogie of Ogwa, the Vice Chancellor, Professor A. Babatunde Idowu, said he was with Management Team as part of the University’s support to encourage young ones to acquire education. He said the University was very compassionate about the people of Ogwa, especially the future of the students.  The Vice-Chancellor remarked that every great man today who has achieved his or her dreams was once like these students. He emphasised that any of them could become the VC, or Registrar of the University one day if they so desired. He reiterated that there was no short-cut to lasting success; that education was a sine-qua-non, irrespective of what the youth of today think of education. He informed the King and the chiefs that apart from the scholarship that was being presented, some lecturers of the institution have volunteered to teach at the grammar school free of charge to boost the students’ horizon.
The Vice – Chancellor promised that the best graduating students among the recipients would be given automatic scholarship to study at Glorious Vision University. Professor Idowu thanked the Onogie and his chiefs and some illustrious sons of Ogwa for their unalloyed support to the university since inception and prayed for the continued cordial relationship with Ogwa people.

Responding, His Royal Highness, Zaiki Victor Agbonmere Ehizogie, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the continued gesture this past years. He said he was grateful to the University, despite the very lean financial situation they had not relented in giving scholarship to the indigent students to be able to enroll for the school certificate examinations every year. He admonished the students to use their phones for good and use the educational APPs for more researches as it concerns their educational pursuit.

Chief Richard Omodige, the Odiakogie of Ogwa, admonished the students to take advantage of the golden opportunity they had received from the University and translate it to good use. He said they should not be distracted by the use of android phones.  He emphasized that social media is not free because it may cost one his/her future.  He encouraged them to remember the ‘’Golden Management Quote, which says, when something is free, you are the product’’.

The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of the cheques to the beneficiaries who with smiles took photograph with the Vice-Chancellor.

In his vote of thanks, on behalf of the recipients, Master John Adebayor, who is also the Senior Prefect of Ogwa Grammar School, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the kind gesture and said he and his friends would use the cheques for the purpose it was given.
