Saturday, 29th April, 2017, was historic in the history of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, LAWNA Territory, when Pastor (Dr.) Gabriel Oladele Olutola officially said goodbye to the Chairmanship position of the Church and handed over the position to Pastor E.S. Awojide.
Pastor Olutola, the 4th LAWNA Territorial Chairman of The Apostolic Church Nigeria (TACN) And the pioneer Visitor/Chancellor of Glorious Vision University, Ogwa, and was born on 4th April, 1933 at Oke-Ibode, Ilesa, Osun State. He started his ministerial work as a worker in TACN on 1st September, 1965, at Ilesa and was ordained a Pastor in 1967. He rose through the ranks and became an Apostle in 1978. He was elected as the 4th Chairman of TACN, LAWNA Territory in 2009 and became the 2nd National President of The Apostolic Church, Nigeria in 2011. These made him the first person to serve Chairman TACN, LAWNA Territory and at the same time the National President of TAC Nigeria.
Pastor Olutola decided to vacate the two exalted positions when the ovation was loudest rather than dying on the positions like previous holders of the positions. This is historical.
The retirement service began on Thursday, April 27, 2017, with 51 hours of praise that featured renowned Christian musicians in Nigeria, among whom were, Bola Are, Bisi Alawiye, Tope Alabi and many others. The event was graced with a drama presentation titled “Casket of God” presented by students of Glorious Vision University.
In a tribute to the Chancellor on behalf of Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Management, Staff and Students of Glorious Vision University (GVU), the Chairman of Board of Trustees, Overseer (Dr.) Ebenezer Okebukola, said that Pastor Gabriel Olutola exhibited the hallmark of a seasoned Administrator with strong capacity for work, unassuming ability and a man of unflinching faith in God; who remained unruffled in the face of adversities.
Overseer Okebukola reiterated that apart from Pastor Olutola’s personal contributions, he provided the right leadership in the Church to actualizing the completion of phase one projects and commencement of new projects in the University.
Pastor Gabriel Oladele Olutola in his remark, returned all glory, honour and adoration to the God Almighty. He appreciated the National Executive Council of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, LAWNA Executive Council, Glorious Vision University Community and all dignitaries for their prayers and support during his reign as the National President, LAWNA Chairman and the Visitor of GVU. He charged every servant of God to know that he was passing through this world but once.
The event was graced with men of God from all over the nation, scholars and men of high caliber.
