GVU Hosts Staff Capacity Building Workshop to Promote Institutional Growth

The Glorious Vision University (GVU) held its quarterly staff capacity building workshop on Tuesday, 17 June 2025, at the University Lecture Theatre. The event attracted top members of the university community, including the Vice-Chancellor, Principal Officers, Deans of Colleges, Heads of Departments and Units, as well as other distinguished members of staff.

In his opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor urged participants to seize the opportunity to broaden their knowledge, emphasising that no one has a monopoly of knowledge. He described the workshop as a strategic initiative to enhance institutional performance and professional development.

The workshop featured three thematic lecture sessions, each focusing on key pillars of organisational success.

The first lecture was delivered by Sir Chris Adamaigbo, former Registrar of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, titled: "Information Management: Implication for Organisational Integrity and Sustainability." He highlighted the critical role of information management in driving institutional growth, advocating for data-driven decision-making as a standard practice for effective leadership.

In the second lecture, the University Bursar, Mr Simeon Funmiyi Akinpelu, spoke on "Financial and Facility Management as Correlates to Organisational Growth and Sustainability." He stressed the importance of prudent financial practices and effective facility maintenance, urging all staff to align with GVU’s developmental goals for long-term sustainability.

The third session was led by Dr. Mrs. Pedetin Oluranti Afolabi, who presented a lecture titled: "People and Relationship Management." She underscored the necessity of healthy interpersonal relationships among employees, noting that teamwork and mutual support are vital for enhancing productivity within the workplace.

The workshop also featured interactive sessions, where staff members contributed insights and posed questions to the speakers. Participants later broke into syndicate groups, each tasked with generating actionable recommendations aimed at advancing the university’s strategic objectives.

The outcomes from the syndicate discussions will be compiled and forwarded to the university management for further action.
